Trail Magic Co Sponsorship Terms and Conditions

Effective Date: 12/29/25

By applying for or accepting the Trail Magic Co Appalachian Trail Thru-Hike Sponsorship, you agree to the following terms and conditions.

1. Eligibility

This sponsorship is open to individuals who:

  • Are 18 years of age or older.
  • Are planning to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail in 2026.
  • Start their hike between January 1st and June 30th, 2026.

2. Application Process

Applicants must provide the following required information:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Mailing address

Optional information requested includes:

  • Phone number
  • Hiking experience
  • Answers to additional questions to help determine the best fit for the sponsorship.

Selection criteria are based on the applicant's ability to create entertaining or educational content. However, hikers with no prior content creation experience may still apply if they intend to document their Appalachian Trail journey on social media platforms.

3. Sponsorship Payment

  • The total possible sponsorship amount is $5,000, paid as follows: $800/month for up to five (5) months while on the trail and a $1,000 bonus upon completion of the entire 2200 mile Appalachian Trail.
  • To maintain eligibility, the hiker must:
  1. Record 45 seconds or long daily video journal
  2. Record daily b roll footage that can include anything from views, hiking, or any other cool things seen along the way.
  3. Upload all footage to predetermine cloud based drive. No more than 10 day delay
  • If the hiker is unable to complete the trail, they forfeit any future payments but are entitled to keep the funds already paid out.

4. Content Creation Requirements

  • Daily 45 second or long video journal of daily activities(90% completion rate required, anything lower results proportional reduction in pay)
  • Daily B Roll footage, can include views, walking, funny moments or just anything cool seen on trail.(75% completion rate require, anything lower results in proportional reduction in pay)
  • Upload to cloud based drive.(No more than 14 days behind schedule)

5. Media Rights and Ownership

  • The hiker retains ownership of all content created but grants Trail Magic Co unlimited media rights to use, reproduce, or distribute the content indefinitely, unless a release is signed by an authorized representative of Trail Magic Co.

6. Liability and Risk Waiver

  • By accepting this sponsorship, the hiker acknowledges the inherent risks of thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail.
  • Trail Magic Co is not liable for any injuries, accidents, or incidents during the hike unless caused by gross negligence on the part of Trail Magic Co.
  • The hiker agrees to sign a waiver acknowledging these risks.

7. Termination of Sponsorship

  • The hiker may cancel the sponsorship at any time, with no further obligation beyond forfeiting future payments.
  • Trail Magic Co reserves the right to cancel the sponsorship with 30 days’ notice or immediately if the hiker:
  1. Violates any federal, state or local law
  2. Violates any of the conditions laid out in this document.

8. Additional Sponsorships and Conflicts of Interest

  • The hiker is permitted to accept additional sponsorships during the thru-hike, except from companies that produce freeze-dried food or trail maps.
  • Sponsorship payments through the Amazon Associates program are allowed.

9. Miscellaneous

  • These terms and conditions may be updated at any time, with changes communicated via email.

The information provided on the Appalachian Trail map, including but not limited to trail routes, water sources, resupply points, shelters, road crossings, shuttle services, and other points of interest, is for general reference only. While we strive to keep the data accurate and up to date, conditions on the Appalachian Trail can change frequently due to weather, maintenance, closures, and other unforeseen circumstances.
Users should not rely solely on this map for navigation or trip planning. Always verify critical details with official sources such as the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, local trail clubs, and up-to-date guidebooks.
By using this map, you acknowledge and agree that the creator of this map assume no responsibility for errors, omissions, or changes in the information provided. You further acknowledge that hiking and outdoor activities carry inherent risks, and it is your responsibility to exercise caution, carry appropriate gear, and make informed decisions about your safety.
